Singing in community is so good for us - for our physical health, for our mental health, and for creating connection to each other.

And it’s FUN!

If you've enjoyed singing along at our concerts, or love singing with others but don’t have time to join a choir, please come sing with us!

Everyone is welcome, whether or not you call yourself a singer!

SUNDAY DEC 14

Singing begins at 2:00, with a short reception afterwards.

Arts West

132 W. State St

Athens, OH

Donations taken at the door will go to MY SISTER’S PLACE.

Calliope’s fall concerts are filled with songs chosen with inspiration from Sikh activist Valarie Kaur’s Revolutionary Love movement. She says, "Revolutionary Love is the call of our times. It is to look upon the face of anyone and say: You are a part of me I do not yet know…" Our songs will speak to loving ourselves, loving each other, and loving those we don’t agree with - and, in the words of Kaur, “reclaiming love as a force for justice!” Come hear music by Bjork, Wailin’ Jennys, Moira Smiley, Sweet Honey in the Rock and more.

Water heal my body, water heal my soul!

When I go down, down to the water,

by the water I feel whole...

~Coco Love Alcorn

This fall Calliope is thinking and singing about water: our relationship to water, having enough water, what it means to care for the water. We started thinking about water before we knew the words "exceptional drought" or imagined the destruction of Hurricane Helene, and it's been a powerful meditation as we navigate a world that asks us to be water - flow, adapt, find a new path, nourish, change shape.

Water is LIFE!

Come hear songs by Joni Mitchell, Moira Smiley, Merrill Garbus, Coco Love Alcorn, local singers/songwriters Molly & Brynn Sowash and others as we celebrate this element so essential to our lives!

Calliope is grateful to the Ohio Arts Council for funding during our 2024-2025 season!
